What is SEO All About?
Google, Yahoo and Bing are the major search engines that people use on a daily basis. Their aim is to deliver the most relevant set of result they can for a given search term. This is something that they have all become better and better at doing over the years and in general the results you get when you do a search provide you with the information you are looking for.
The process of search engine optimisation is in essence an attempt to understand or reverse engineer how the search engines arrive at their results for a search term. If we can do that then we can try to do the same and hopefully appear in the top listings for the search term.
On Page Optimisation
If your webpage is nothing to do with the search term you would like to rank for, why would google or anybody else think that it was. On page optimisation is the process of looking at the content on your page through the eyes of a search engine. If they can’t see that your page is about a particular topic they are not going to send people there. A number of on page factors can help and we can optimise the way your content is delivered to maximise the on page optimisation.
Off Page Optimisation
It has long been recognised that on page optimisation is only a relatively small piece of the jigsaw when it comes to search engine optimisation.  The search engines needed to find better ways of assessing the relevance of a page’s content and one of those ways is to look at the number of links that point to the page from other sites. You can think of these as votes by other site owners that the page is in fact relevant and about that topic. Other factors such as the age of your domain name play a factor also.
